The latest EMOD-PACE WP2 meetings: 2/8 December 2020

Overview

The EMODnet Partnership for China and Europe (EMOD-PACE) is a project financed by the European Commission to strengthen international ocean data through the EU’s ocean diplomacy with China. The EMOD-PACE project started officially on 19 February 2020 and will run for a period of 30 months.

The work package 2 (WP2) of the project is aimed at establishing data interoperability between EMODnet and the National Marine Data and Information Service of China (NMDIS).

WP2 overall aims are:

  • To analyse and establish interoperability between the EU EMODnet and Chinese NMDIS marine data systems to support marine data (products) exchange.
  • To implement this by developing and deploying an ‘EMODnet – NMDIS data brokerage service’ for common discovery and access.
  • To publish and make available the data brokerage service at the EU – China portal, for human users and machine-to-machine interactions.

WP2 activities are splitted in 4 disciplinary groups, involving 5 out of the 7 EMODnet thematic portals:

  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Biology and seabed habitats
  • Bathymetry
