4th Phase meeting with MSFD experts on new DIVA maps: 27 May 2021

On 27 May 2021, the proposal for new mapping products for eutrophication was presented during a dedicated meeting with the board of experts of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive.

Alessandra Giorgetti, from the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS, Italy), opened the meeting with a short general presentation of EMODnet Chemistry, highlighting data collection and data quality control.

Then Carles Troupin from the University of Liege (Uliege, Belgium) briefly explained the DIVA tool used to develop all the climatologies and presented the global maps.

After Uliege, Karin Wesslander, from the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI, Sweden) presented the maps carried out for 6 different European sea basins.

Luminita Buga, from the National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” (NIMRD, Romania), presented the coastal maps: the reason to select some specific European areas, their general features, and a general overview of the climatologies.
